You don’t have to be quite dead yet, but Forbes’ Top 10 of top-earning musicians is full with acts that started a long time ago – think 1980’s.

A lot of that income comes from touring, merchandising sales, product endorsements and sales of their catalogs, although that last ingredient has taken a nose-dive the past decade.

It was to be expected that all the fuss about Tiger Woods’ “transgressions” would have a financial fall-out somehow. Consultancy firm Accenture has severed their 6-year ties with the golf star, and Gilette will limit Woods’ marketing presence. The public image of Mr. Perfect has been tarnished, and endorsement deals based on this images have been, and probably will be, pulled.

I find the whole public mud-slinging a far from elegant feature of the American society, which has become all celebrity-crazed and media-horny. (more…)

Online tickets sales for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s Giants Stadium concerts in East Rutherford, New Jersey (NJ) for  September 30, October 2 and October 3 started at 10 a.m. EST today. The fact that people are searching all over the Internet to find these tickets is not just because The Boss Bruce Springsteen still rocks, but of course also because of the location of this particular concert. Cleveland Caveliers star LeBron James has been chosen as the 2008-09 NBA Most Valuable Player presented by Kia Motors. He appeared on his first Sports Illustrated cover at 17, and now “King James” has been voted the league’s Most Valuable Player by sportswriters and broadcasters – the youngest MVP ever. (more…)

Nielsen Online reported today that Twitter enjoyed a doubling in its user base last month, March 2009. And April will be even wilder, I suspect, with all the attention (read: hype) that celebrities like Ashton Kutcher*, Mrs. Kutcher (Demi Moore) and Oprah brought to the medium.
